Staying committed to personal growth is a journey of continuous improvement and embracing opportunities for self-reflection and connection. Let me share a memorable experience that reminded me of the importance of kindness and seizing the moment.

I’ve Been Memorized!

It all started on a particularly cold morning at the office. I found myself grumbling to my two colleagues about the state of our refreshments. The coffee pot was cold, the kettle was cold, and I hadn’t had a hot drink to warm me up. Apologies flowed all around as we acknowledged the biting weather - everyone had grabbed a hot drink on their way in.

As the chatter settled, our team leader announced an impromptu meeting. Seizing the moment, I quickly prepared my tea and headed to the meeting room. I was the first to arrive, soon followed by my two colleagues, engrossed in conversation. As they entered, one of them looked at me quizzically and asked, “Lola, why are you here?”

Confused, I replied, “I’m here for the meeting.”

That’s when it dawned on me - the meeting wasn’t for me at all! I had misheard and was actually assigned to another task. Laughing it off, I apologized and made my way toward the door. As I exited, I casually mentioned that I’d need a little break afterward. One of my colleagues jokingly asked, “Why do you need a break? You already gave us an earful about tea and coffee and have your hot drink now!”

Amused, I explained that I had a few things to take care of regarding Memriz.

There you go, Lola - you’ve been Memorized!

At this point, one colleague, already familiar with Memriz, nodded knowingly, while the other admitted he had been curious about it. He’d noticed some team members wearing the distinctive lapel pin but didn’t know what it represented.

This was my chance to share the heart of Memriz. I explained that Memriz is about memorializing interactions through acts of kindness. It’s about making meaningful connections and creating moments that leave a lasting impact. I proudly handed him a lapel pin, symbolizing this commitment to kindness.

In a lighthearted conclusion, my colleagues chimed in, “There you go, Lola - you’ve been Memorized!”

That simple moment of sharing and connection turned a potentially mundane day into something special. I’d not only been forgiven for my earlier grumbling but had also created a new Memriz moment. It was a lovely reminder of how small gestures can turn into opportunities for growth and connection.

He was indeed Memorized that morning!
